Got Jesus

“Before the mountains were born, or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God,” Psalm 90:2.

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably looked up at a western sky on a moonless night at a billion shining stars and felt in awe of it all. The mountain ranges of the West are a true natural wonder and draw people like us to them every year. Even if we go home without our elk or deer, these scenes often leave powerful impressions on our minds.

We live in the land of the free, where anyone can say virtually anything under protection of our constitution. With this freedom, some people have made us think that there is no God and the entire universe is just a fortunate cosmic accident that produced everything that you see around you. Because we came from just matter, they say, we will return to the same place with no consciousness of ever existing. Each person should live as they see fit because after all, we are accountable to no one.

“Before the mountains were born, or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God,” Psalm 90:2.

Did you know that the Bible actually says that the mountains and the heavens declare the existence of a Creator, the one who made you and me and everything in the universe. The Bible also says that if you’ve seen the wonder of creation, you are without excuse to know it’s Creator.

Well don’t be fooled. We indeed are here by design and as the Bible says, “The heavens declare the glory of God…” We are responsible to know our Creator and live our lives in a way that glorifies Him. If you don’t already have this perspective, read on, as gaining it will drastically alter your life in a wondrous way.

The Bible claims to be the Word of God. Now lots of books written throughout history claim the same thing: The Muslims believe the Koran to be the Word, the Mormons believe the Book of Mormon to be the same thing, and the Jehovah’s Witnesses say they have the only true Bible. Many groups want to claim they are the “way.” So what makes the Bible any different? It’s called prophecy. Prophecy, as defined in the dictionary, is simply the prediction of future events and the Bible is the sole authority on prophecy. Over one-third of the Bible is prophecy and much of it has already come true.

For example, the Bible claimed that the city of Babylon would be destroyed and never rebuilt. It was destroyed thousands of years ago and to this day, has not been rebuilt. Even the evil and powerful dictator Saddam Hussein vowed to rebuild Babylon as it lie within the borders his own country of Iraq. He was executed in December of 2006 for crimes against humanity.

Other cities like Tyre and Sidon were prophesied to never be rebuilt after their destruction and to this day remain destroyed. Yet other cities like Jerusalem have been destroyed yet were rebuilt and to this day remain.

These are just a few of the over 2000 Bible prophecies that have come true, proving that the Bible alone is the word of God above all other writings around the world that try and claim the same thing. While these prophesies are certainly exciting, the greatest prophecies involve those about Jesus Christ.

Over 300 predictions written thousands of years before His birth are contained in the Bible. One mathematician calculated that the odds of one man fulfilling 300 prophecies would be the same as filling a globe the size of earth full of white poker chips with one red chip among them. The odds of randomly pulling out that one chip on the first try would be on par of fulfilling the 300 prophecies that Jesus did. This is mind-blowing to think about yet that’s exactly what happened with the birth, life, and death of Jesus Christ.

So if you can believe that the Bible is the word of God, then you need to know what it’s message is for you and all mankind. Simply put, we have fallen short of God’s will for our lives because we all have sinned. Read the Ten Commandments found in the book of Exodus chapter 20 and if you’re honest, you will find that you are guilty of breaking God’s law.

The good news of the Bible is that Jesus died for your sins so that you could be forgiven. This means that when you die, you won’t be eternally separated from God (what the Bible calls hell) but instead will be in his presence forever (what the Bible calls heaven.)

If you’ve never made the decision to turn to God through Jesus Christ, now is the time. Not only will you be forgiven, but His peace will reign in your heart although this world is a troubled place. Jesus Himself said that “…I come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly,” (John 10:10.) Come and experience this life that God has for you.
