Sheep Mountain & Willow Creek Ranches Idaho Semi-guided Elk and Deer Hunting

For 2011, our guide, Tyler Williams, scouted some bulls in September while guiding on the archery hunt. When rifle opened, he stationed Alan in the area. Opening morning he killed this good bull. That group went on to kill five branch-antlered bulls out of six hunters.

Tyler guided during the archery season in 2011. Out of two hunters, they had 100% shot opportunity and killed this bull. Tyler called in a herd bull, but the hunter misjudged the distance (no time to range) and shot under the bull.

Willard and Wayne Beckman returned in 2010, this time hunting Sheep Mountain Ranch. They both took bulls. Private land works! www.wescout4u.com.

Our ranches are good to great for bull elk hunting, both archery and rifle and have good potential for buck hunters with little hunting pressure on these bucks. We killed 6 bulls out of seven hunters in 2011.  Our guide assists hunters in the field finding elk, getting them back to camp, and everything else you might need.  The bull elk on the Sheep Mountain Ranch escape pressure here from the surrounding ranches and public ground.  It has produced several bulls approaching 350″ in recent years, and some huge bucks in the past, with a good bucks scouted by us and the landowner yearly. There’s lots of country to hunt for a group of 4-10 hunters depending on how many slots we have available each year. You can stay with the landowner in the ranch house or camp on the lease for a reasonable fee. It is a great lease for September archery hunting, with a bull over 350″ killed by an archer in 2005. This size of bull is far from common, with most mature bulls being 250″ to 320″.   The ranch is  a mixture of aspen, sage, and conifer with both steep and gentle terrain.

I called him into 40 yards! If I’d just had a hunter with me, we’d have likely got him.

An archery buck from Sheep Mountain.  We see bucks this size and up, sometimes way up.
In 2011, we scouted several bucks over 27″ and one had 6″ bases!  We are forced to hunt in
October by Fish and Game rules, making hunting tough.  However, with our conservative
managment, we have some great bucks available every year.  Stay tuned, one of these days we
will get one on the ground.  In 2012, two of our hunters got shots at good bucks (missed)
during the elk season.
